The Everyman Palace Theatre in Cork is one of Ireland’s leading middle scale presenting and producing theatres. The beautiful 650 seat theatre is a jewel of late Victorian architecture. Community Media Council NI (CMC) wishes to engage an Information Officer to work on a freelance contract until 18th March 2011. Flexible working times are essential to reflect the company’s work pattern. An extension to this may be possible, funding permitting.

Fee: £3500.00. The successful applicant is responsible for his or her own tax and National Insurance contributions. Fee reflects 56 days work.

The successful applicant will work closely alongside the CMC’s Administrator, the CMC Executive Committee and the CMC members to deliver on the CMC new information and advice service to the Community Media Sector in Northern Ireland.

The CMC is volunteer lead organisation- the Information Officer role is a vital part of the CMC's advice, information gathering and information assistance to the sectors volunteers/employees/management committee members.

This Information Officer’s role will be the main contact with all CMC's members and its stakeholders. With a responsibility for front of office administration, the Information Officer is responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and delivery of the developmental procedures, collating information on website / distributing monthly e-shots, whilst responsible for the information telephone / email help and advice line. The role involves the successful application to act as a vital advice resource to the community radio sector in Northern lreland. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate excellent administrative and operational skills, have the ability to work in a small busy team. The successful applicant must also demonstrate a passion and enthusiasm for the style of work the company undertakes.

Community Media Council (CMC) is a non for profit community media organisation that represents the community media sector in Northern Ireland. To date the Community Media Council has 14 members all of which are fulltime community radio stations.

NW Carnival Initiative’s tender request for the following: Master classes in Carnival Lighting + mobile Sound System Techniques for large-scale & small scale prop production.

Background: The North West Carnival Initiative is a consortium that includes various community Groups, arts organisations & artists from across the City. The core objective of this project is to produce creative, carnival-based programmes that facilitate artistic excellence, community training, cultural collaboration and civic celebration. It aims to promote the use of carnival as a means of publicly expressing the creative talent and energy of all people within the city & to encourage inclusive celebration.

Masterclasses Summary
Target Group: Artists, facilitators, youth workers, community workers, teachers and students.

Type of Workshop: Carnival Lighting + mobile Sound System Techniques for large-scale & small scale prop production.

Outcomes required:
1. Produce 2 large scale props that contain & demonstrate the above techniques. (Props will be showcased at the Banks of the River Foyle Halloween Carnival of Lights Parade 2010).
2. Teach participants the various techniques & materials used to light Large-scale/ Small-scale Props and Pageants safely and effectively.
3. Teach participants how to use mobile sound systems effectively & safely & recommended amplifier outputs.

Dates/Location of Workshops:
• Thursday 9th September & Friday 10th September 2010 from 10 to 5pm.
• Location of Workshops – Gasyard Arts Factory.
• No. of participants in workshops = 25 (maximum).

Call for Dance Artist interested in collaboration and working with young people - posted 06.8.2010

St. Kevin’s Integrated Youth Arts Group is looking for a dance artist to work on their latest film project. The group will be working on a project led by an animation artist to develop a new animation video. They would like a dance artist to explore the links between physical movement and movement created via animation.

The project will require planning time with the animation artist and delivery of 7 – 9 sessions, in some cases alongside the animation artist leading the project

Background: A steering committee of the Irish Wheelchair Association, St. Kevin’s Family Resource Centre, Tallaght Youth Service, & South Dublin County Council Arts Office was formed in December 2008 to support an initiative bringing together 2 groups of young people from the IWA Youth Service and TYS who both meet in St. Kevin’s through arts participation. The aims have been to break down barriers regarding young people with disabilities and to increase access to, knowledge of, and participation in the arts for ALL young people.
